Alliance Ventures, Investinor and Alden AS add $2.5M in Series A Funding for bMobilized

By Frank Griffin, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Cloud-based solutions are being applied to many types of industries, giving companies small and large access to new business opportunities. The bMobilized cloud-based, do-it-yourself platform gives SMBs customizable mobile website solutions.

The additional $2.5 million in funding from Alliance Ventures, Investinor and Alden AS comes on top of the initial $1.5 million they invested in the New York start up last April. The funding is going to be supporting the company’s Advanced DIY Mobile Conversion & Solutions Technology.

The popularity of mobile devices means websites have to be designed to work on these devices without compatibility issues. The solution, bMobilized, provides gives businesses the tools to convert their websites so it can look and function on any browser, mobile device and operating system.

The version currently available can convert websites into customizable HTML5-enabled mobile sites in eight languages for a $9 monthly fee, including setup and maintenance.

"The confidence these investors have shown in bMobilized is further validation that our technology and unique market position can meet the explosive demand from SMBs to jump on the mobile bandwagon. Our platform makes it simple for businesses to accomplish this once complex and costly task," said bMobilized CEO, Ben Seslija .

This is a growing field with huge potential, considering 98 percent of SMBs have not optimized their websites for mobile OSs including Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows and Symbian (News - Alert). With an estimated 1.03 billion smartphones users globally in 2012, and an increase to more than two billion by 2015, it’s a market business must address if they want to stay relevant.

The smartphone ownership market in the U.S. has reached 51 percent as of September 2012, with an estimated 119.3 million users.

The technology used by bMobilized is a patented application that gives users the ability to convert traditional websites to mobile platforms without losing the original concept of the site. It does this by using the Automatic Content Identifier (ACI), which has more than 300 algorithms to change every part of the website for a mobile version in less than 30 seconds.

Additional tools provide 30 customizable options to improve mobile usage, including social sharing buttons, contact bar, maps, click-to-call, click-to-email and click-to-SMS features.

While the technology sounds great, Google (News - Alert) provides a free version that offers the same DIY website conversion tool. Only time will tell if the free version will dominate the market and push the pay versions out of business.
