Excited Apple (News - Alert) users have been anxiously awaiting the release of the iPad mini. Unfortunately for those who did not immediately snap one up when they became available on the Apple online store, they may have to wait before the iPad mini that they want becomes available.
The iPad mini is available in the same colors as the iPhone (News - Alert) 5: white and silver and black and slate. They are available with memory capacities of 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB. At a weight of .68 pounds and a thickness of 7.2 millimeters, the mini will be much smaller than the original iPad size. The iPad mini will be sold at a pricepoint of $329 for the 16 GB model, $429 for the 32 GB model, and $529 for the 64 GB model.

Sales of the iPad mini started today at 3 AM EST, and the company has, as with all of its product releases, already experienced remarkable success. Anyone who is looking for a white iPad mini will have to wait, as all memory capacities sold out in a matter of minutes -- 20 to be exact.
According to Mashable, part of its popularity can be attributed to the fact that white Apple products are considered more exclusive by their users. It was also suggested that the white version of the iPad mini was produced in smaller quantities, leading to the nearly immediate sell-out. The Huffington Post has suggested that users who have been forced to wait by the demand for the white iPad mini may have lucked out, as the mini has a number of qualities that make it inferior to the original.
Whether or not the online presale of the iPad mini was successful in eclipsing the launch of the Microsoft (News - Alert) Surface tablet is still unclear, but the date chosen for presales seems to come as no innocent mistake.
