Deutsche Telekom's Developer Garden to Leverage Voxbone's VoxDID

By Rory Lidstone, TMCnet Contributing Writer

It's the first day of ITEXPO (News - Alert) Austin, taking place today until October 5 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. And as always, the event is home to significant partnerships and advancements in the telecommunications world.

Today, Voxbone (News - Alert) – a provider of worldwide geographical, toll-free and iNum telephone numbers – announced that it is providing international direct inward dial (DID) numbers to Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert) for its Developer Garden.

Developer Garden is a recently re-launched portal and marketplace which allows developers to integrate Deutsche Telekom services into mobile and desktop applications, as well as buy and sell software components. The site targets 17 million global developers.

Voxbone's VoxDID service will allow Deutsche Telekom to extend the reach of its telecommunications network by way of Voxbone's convenient application programming interface (API) solution, providing national phone numbers for incoming communications.

This will enable developers to build sophisticated apps quickly and efficiently.

With access to Deutsche Telekom's voice and data services, for example, developers can build speech-driven interactive voice response (IVR) and VoIP solutions, a cloud-based voice application platform, or voice mash-ups and SMS applications with Telekom Tropo API.

“Deutsche Telekom is always looking for the best ways to help the developer community to create innovative services and applications and to turn code into money,” said Avner Mor, vice president of B2B2x Enabling at Deutsche Telekoms Digital Business Unit. “Voxbone’s DID numbers enable us to increase the reach of developers’ services, so they can develop better, more affordable tools and apps for smartphones, tablets and computers.”

In late July, Voxbone enabled Lexifone to launch a real-time language translation service built on the company's innovative automated phone interpreter technology in conjunction with Voxbone's voice services.

Voxbone will be at ITEXPO Austin this week in Booth #613. Hugh Goldstein, the company's VP of Business Development for North America, will moderate a panel entitled “Why Telcos Have So Much to Gain in the Identity Economy” on October 3 at 1:30 p.m.
