Samsung has been running ads that its Galaxy S III is better than Apple’s iPhone (News - Alert) 5.
The ad lists Galaxy S III software features, such as sharing photos wirelessly between phones, but fails to specify any iPhone 5-specific features.
The report says Apple put several features in iPhone software that the Galaxy S III doesn’t have. These include Facebook and Twitter (News - Alert) integration, and access to more apps.
“But given that this ad is ostensibly a feature-by-feature comparison of the two phones, it seems disingenuous of Samsung (News - Alert) to leave out a lot of great things the iPhone 5 can do,” Business Insider said.

“Samsung has essentially declared an all-out war on Apple that has the feel and look of the current presidential campaign,” adds an editorial in the Latino Post. “For a company to use nasty ads in a battle for consumer attention seems a bit out of the ordinary.”
The editorial noted how Samsung said in the ad, "It doesn't take a genius" – which is an attack on Apple's "Genius (News - Alert)" customer representatives.
Samsung’s ad also led the editorial to ask, “If a company feels the need to point out the rival's misgivings, are they simply trying to cover up their own shortcomings? Or the more important question: Why doesn't Samsung worry about their own products? Do they really lack the confidence in their own products that they need to devote ads to attack the competition?”
Samsung’s ad is appearing in U.S. newspapers and magazines.
In related news, Samsung plans to unveil its next Galaxy S phone in February – in an apparent response to the recent launch of the iPhone 5 by Apple, according to a report on TMCnet.
