This year, New York Fashion Week is opening its doors and inviting fashionista netizens to take a front row seat via social network Twitter (News - Alert). Teaming up to curate what’s happening in the world of fashion as fashion houses get ready to showcase their designs for spring and summer 2013, Twitter has launched an online campaign with the hashtags #NYFW and #FNO.
The social network has unveiled a complement guide to New York Fashion Week, which includes popular designers, models, bloggers and fashion icons who will be busy tweeting about what’s happening all around them. Twitter users can follow the page’s suggested list of accounts to follow.

The list of fashion’s ‘who’s who’ will consist of more than 50 different people, including fashion writers, designers, brands, models and stylists. Notable personalities include Nina Garcia, Victoria Beckham, Miranda Kerr, Olivia Palermo, Rachel Zoe, Barneys New York, Badgley Mischka and Bergdorf Goodman, amongst others.
With Twitter’s Fashion Week related hashtag of #DayInTheLife, VIPs will tweet status updates, photos of makeup sessions, runway shots, backstage activities, parties and after parties, all for the benefit of Twitters fashion-savvy audience.
In a world caught up in social media, fashionistas and fans can now view, access and stay up-to-date with the latest news from New York’s Fashion Week, offering a unique perspective to one of the fashion industry’s premier events. Instead of seeing Fashion Week through glossy magazines and photos from top fashion photographers, fashion fanatics can now experience the whole thing, in real-time, through Twitter.
Fashion designers are harnessing the power of social media via other channels as well, including connecting with online audiences through photo sharing community Instagram, video site YouTube, Facebook (News - Alert) and Livestream.
