Toshiba Unveils Three New Devices

By Brittany Walters-Bearden, TMCnet Contributor

Toshiba (News - Alert) America Information Systems, Inc. has divulged that its Digital Products Division has designed several new PCs that will have touchscreen capabilities and tools specifically for the upcoming Windows 8.

The most impressive of the computers is the Ultrabook Convertible device, the perfect union between a laptop and a tablet.

“These PCs showcase the possibilities of what Windows 8 can do, providing a responsive touch experience on beautiful, precisely engineered hardware,” said vice president of marketing Carl Pinto, confident that consumers will readily embrace the new technology. “Consumers will love interacting with Windows on these devices with the operating system's modern, intuitive touch gestures and Windows apps and live tiles. This is just the beginning of a new generation of hardware development designed to take advantage of touch from Toshiba."

If the Ultrabook is as functional as it promises in the pictures that have been released, it will quickly become the must-have item among tech addicts, who, by this time, have already grown weary of the “phablet” and will be on the prowl for the next incarnation of the tablet.

The light design will be ideal for business travelers who need to get more heavy duty work done than what their laptop is able to handle, without encumbering their seatback tray table with a bulky laptop.

Toshiba has three new computers that will be ready for purchase at the end of October 2012: The Satellite U925t, Satellite P845t and Toshiba LX835. The superstar of these three new computers is the Toshiba Satellite U925t, which will convert from a typical laptop into an entertaining and popular tablet.

It is interesting to note that these three new devices will be released at the same time as Microsoft (News - Alert) releases Windows 8 and their first-ever tablet, Windows Surface. Whether they want to offer consumers “the best” with the latest version of Windows or compete with the Surface is unclear.
