10 Home Based Tech Jobs Hiring Now

With all the talk of unemployment at 8.2 percent, working from home seems like a pipe dream that needs to be laid to rest on a backburner. However, despite only 69,000 new jobs being added for the month of May, technology jobs still present several work from home employment opportunities. In fact, here are 10 telecommuting tech-based jobs provided by FlexJobs hiring right now:

Senior Cloud Networking Presales Engineer

The sky is seemingly the limit when it comes to Cloud related jobs like this one. In fact, back in January, InfoWorld reported that more than 2,400 companies in a 90-day period were seeking candidates with cloud computing skills. Not surprisingly then, positions with the option to work from home are being offered to secure top talent.

Lead Systems Engineer

Back in 2010, before Cloud positions became all the rage, System Engineers were listed as number 49 on CNN Money’s Best Jobs in America. Though this same position didn’t make their Top 20 Best Jobs in 2011, perhaps in 2012 it will be back.

Senior Technical Support Engineer

Last week, GlassDoor) broke down salaries for Technical Support Engineers from 409 companies, with an average of $101,915 reported from Juniper Network Salaries. Add in cost savings from commuting, and you’ll be sitting pretty in that home office.

Voice/Data Network Analyst

Fittingly, a call center position would be hiring with the option for telecommuting, but perhaps what is unusual is running the entire center infrastructure, coordinating builds, changes, upgrades and research/resolve issues… all from home. This particular position is yet another example of the variety of home based positions.

Hospital Clinical Coding Analyst

Month after month, FlexJobs’ Monthly Index report proves medical and health jobs are the career field with the most available flexible positions. Clearly technical based jobs are included as this job hiring now proves.

Localization Project Manager

This particular position involves managing projects in Europe. Imagining a world where a job working for someone across the pond suddenly became a reality. Though it does not require being in the office, if it did, a territory meeting would also be a paid trip.

IT/Technical Recruiter

Someone’s got to find the tech workers and the fact that this position is available demonstrates that there are jobs to be filled.

Mobile Designer

An infographic posted on Mashable details that 80 percent of smartphone users would use an app to find a job… which means there was a job to design that app and apparently a lot more to come.

Quality Assurance Engineer

When a position requires responsibility for creating and implementing test plans for web services and analyzing and solving problems, it could use the peace and quiet working from home provides.

Web Services Developer

Similarly, developing and testing web services and resolving issues would be a lot easier without getting caught up in time consuming water cooler talk.

The above categories posted on FlexJobs.com highlight the different types of positions currently hiring that are tech-based and offer the flexibility to work from home. These opportunities are available despite disappointing employment reports from May. So, instead of putting your dreams on the backburner, you may want to think about making your own brewed coffee and start a fulltime job right from your home.
