By Daniel Brecht, Contributing Writer

Autodesk (News - Alert), Inc., an American corporation known for its 3D business software like AutoCAD, not only deploys the “Best Global-to-Local e-Commerce Strategy”, but is a company that has received 16 Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects for its 3D model to 3D print software. With Autodesk’s freeware, it makes capturing 3D models possible and easy.

The Autodesk free software and apps has been adopted by many industries and customers around the world, who use the software to design and visualize their work, or simulate and share their ideas. Designers might need to try each app to see which one better fits their needs.

The 123D Catch free program is one of the apps to build enabling applications or to generate impressive and realistic 3D models. This Autodesk 3D software allows one to take regular photos and turn them into remarkable 3D models. This app is available for both the PC, which requires either Microsoft’s (News - Alert) Windows 7 or XP Service Pack 3 or higher, and the iPad; it’s  currently available at the U.S. and Canada iTunes stores and for the iPad 2 and new iPads only. The iPad camera can be used to photograph any object from a number of angles and elevations; one can also rotate any object at 360 degrees and zoom in or out. The Autodesk app will even be able to render the image in 3D on the tablet or have the object shared with other Autodesk users.

Autodesk even offers the 123D Catch web app for users to try it online and be able to upload their pictures and create 3D models; the recommend browsers to use the program are Google Chrome or Apple (News - Alert) Safari.

The Autodesk 123D family also consists of 123D, a useful app that can give shape to an idea or add details in order to present something more interesting. With this free app, one can easily formulate ideas from the smart tools available and make it accessible for 3D printing after.

Another Autodesk iPad application that is part of the 123D family and is available at the iTunes store, is 123D Sculpt. It allows one to create a virtual 3D sculpture on their iPad.

With so much to offer customers and industries, no wonder Autodesk is commended for their 3D software and apps. Those that would like to see why Autodesk is considered a leader in 3D design, should check out their freeware for 3D creations on the iPad, PC and online today.
