Samsung (News - Alert) was pretty busy in Q1, airing a total of nine television ads, three of which were rated as most effective per Ace Metrix.
According to the report, Samsung’s Galaxy Notebook clocked in at 686 with its ad, coming in over Apple (News
- Alert), its competitor, who came in at 618 with their four ads.
“Q1 is arguably the most important quarter for advertising, as the Super Bowl, Oscars, and awards season in general drives the advertising agenda,” said Peter Daboll, CEO of Ace Metrix. “It will be very interesting to watch how Samsung’s continually impressive ads affect the company’s market share vis-à-vis competitors like Apple, which, this quarter, did not come close to measuring up to Samsung’s advertising prowess. Samsung’s top-ranked ad was particularly brilliant because it conveyed innovation and information without a narrator.”
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 is due to make an appearance, albeit a little delayed from its original release.
When Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) and Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) in February, it said they would arrive in U.K. stores in March, and then be rolled out globally. But the end of March came and went, and the tablets didn’t go on sale.
The reason for the delay is that Samsung and Google (News
- Alert) need some more time to work on the Ice Cream Sandwich version of the Android (News - Alert) mobile operating system. Both devices are expected to run on Ice Cream Sandwich, or Android 4.0, but to ensure that there are no compatibility issues between the hardware and the open source operating system, more testing is required.
Both tablets will run the latest version of the Android OS. When it was launched, the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) was expected to be the first Samsung tablet to get the latest version of Android.
Both come with a dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM (News - Alert) and up to 32GB of internal storage. They'll also have rear-facing 3.15mp cameras and a front-facing VGA webcam for video calling as well as the option of 3G connectivity.
