Conferencing Outfit Arkadin Helps Customers, Partners Expand their Horizons

By Paula Bernier, Executive Editor, TMC

Arkadin (News - Alert) is investing in the channel and plans to develop additional initiatives on that front going forward. That’s the word from Scott McMaster, vice president of sales at the company, which sells audio and web conferencing services and unified communications solutions.

The company’s strategy revolves around integrating best-of-breed solutions, he said, so Arkadin is one part SaaS (News - Alert) provider, one part systems integrator. The target customer is small and medium businesses, as well as large enterprises and organizations.

Earlier this week, Arkadin announced that Silicon Valley startup Pinnacle Engines is using ArakdinVideo powered by Vidyo (News - Alert) to solve production challenges. Pinnacle attributes improvement in communication with an Asian-based partner to the use of this solution.

Tom Covington, vice president of marketing, Pinnacle Engines, said, “It makes a big difference to see the people you are talking to.”

Established in 2001 in Paris, Arkadin has since expanded beyond just Europe to also serve customers in the Asia Pacific and North America. The company offers services in nearly 30 countries. And although it’s a large global organization, McMaster said it has a local feel in each of its markets given its customer-facing organization and its ability to deliver solutions in 17 languages.

Arkadin around the turn of the year acquired ConferencePlus Inc., a conferencing services provider and a subsidiary of Westell Technologies (News - Alert) Inc. The move strengthened its position in North America, where Arkadin is now the third largest independent collaboration service provider. The market for conferencing services is expected to hit $9 billion in 2015.

In addition to selling through the channel, Arkadin solutions reach the market via white-label relationships with tier 1 telco partners.

But whatever the go-to-market, Arkadin is able to deliver innovative solutions that enable its partners to expand their businesses across new borders, McMaster said.
