Bracketron, a mounting solutions and accessories provider for mobile consumer electronics, announced Tuesday the national availability of the iRoom iDock.
Bracketron’s CES (News - Alert) Innovations iRoom iDock is the world’s first powered, motorized in-wall iPad mounting solution that can be used in both residential and commercial settings, including private homes, hotels, yachts, restaurants, hospitals, boardrooms, retailers and more.
“The iRoom iDock is an exciting advancement in home control that makes life simpler,” said Christian Johnson, vice president of Marketing at Bracketron. “The iDock opens new doors in home automation and integrates the iPad into the home in a fun and stylish way.”
Unique to other docking devices, the iDock features an invisible proximity server which becomes activated when you are nearby. Once the iDock opens you insert your iPad and within ten seconds the iPad intake closes automatically. This function, however, can be disabled if the user chooses to do so.
According to the release, when the iPad is inserted into the dock, users have total control of smart home applications on the device while it is also being charged. Although the iDock automatically charges the iPad battery when mounted, if a power outage occurred the iDock easily opens and releases the iPad for removal.

In addition, the iDock includes both power and composite audio internal connections. The integrated audio outputs of the iDock also allow users to play music from the iPad, since the iDock makes it possible to connect the iPad to every sound system available.
Companies which will distribute the iRoom iDock include Best Buy’s (News - Alert) Magnolia Design Centers, ADI, Almo Pro, Audio America, Wave, Sound Products and other national partners.
“At Best Buy’s Magnolia Home Theater, consumers will be able to see and touch the iRoom iDock and experience its innovative and award-winning technology first-hand,” Johnson said. “Buyers will also benefit from the personalized service offered by the Magnolia team – from in-home consultation to understand their wants and needs to in-store demonstration and expert installation of the iRoom iDock by Geek Squad professionals.”
The iRoom iDock is available in portrait and landscape models and comes in three colors; Piano Black, Opal White and Brushed Aluminum. The iDock comes in Power over Ethernet (PoE) and 110V models with prices starting at $599 to $1,599.
