There is no repudiating the fact that the Angry Birds game has taken the world by storm and this not-so-little game has spread its wings (pun not intended) into the fickle consumer culture. From mobile accessories to plush toys to cupcakes, the characters have been immortalized in many forms and now soon the world will be a privy to an Angry Bird Theme Park.
As part of the Särkänniemi Adventure Park, the Angry Bird Land has the honor of being the world’s first Angry Bird-themed visitor attraction and aims to enthrall fans with an ‘interactive entertainment experience’ where ‘the physical and the virtual world combine.’ Targeted at adults and children, the theme park will open in Tampere, Finland with the full blessing of Angry Birds creator Rovio.
For the uninitiated, Rovio is a Finnish entertainment media company that conceptualized the game and released it as an iPhone (News - Alert) app way back in 2009. The game became a runaway success and has been downloaded 600 million times, generating a staggering revenue of 110 million dollars.
While Rovio is tight-lipped about the impending park, some details have been leaked to the press. The company will work in tandem with the experienced Särkänniemi personnel, along with BDR Design, the latter being an internationally known amusement park entertainment design company. The Angry Bird Land will feature something called “Magic Places,” which are said to be areas where “activities and the gaming world meet.” If this particular theme park is a success (which we are sure it will be), then Rovio will open several Angry Birds theme parks all around the world.
“We wanted to create a unique themed area and associate it with a strong and well-known brand. The Angry Birds characters were born in Finland but are known worldwide by people of all ages. This is a perfect fit for our Adventure Park” says Miikka Seppälä, CEO of Särkänniemi Adventure Park.
Särkänniemi Adventure Park’s summer season kick starts on April 28th, 2012, and fans will be able to catch sneak peeks of the construction of Angry Birds Land on Särkänniemi Adventure Park’s website and Facebook (News - Alert) page.
