You can’t really think of Miami, FL without envisioning warm weather and sunny skies; however, this week at ITEXPO (News - Alert) East 2012, taking place at the Miami Convention Center, there is an abundance of clouds present, though I am not referring to the weather forecast.
The Cloud Communication Expo, one of the 12 events collocated with ITEXPO, provides three days full of informative panels and speaking engagements regarding the best practices for businesses seeking to integrate and leverage cloud-based communications applications, process enhancement techniques and network-based communication architectures.
A number of innovative companies in the cloud space have joined to sponsor and participate in the Cloud Expo. Platinum sponsors of the event include Interactive Intelligence (News 
- Alert) and Voxbone; Gold sponsors include AculabCloud and Momentum; Silver sponsors include Teletech, Usan, Noble Systems and Voxspine.
The Cloud Communications Expo offers a complete and comprehensive educational program for the cloud industry. To kick off the first day of the event yesterday, sessions covered topics such as the basics of cloud computing and exploring businesses cases for the cloud, from on-premises to the cloud, business continuity and security and fraud prevention. As cloud adoption remains steady, many businesses that are currently operating on traditional telephony platforms are hesitant to transition to a complete cloud-based network due to challenges such as lack of education, monetary concerns and security issues.
The Cloud Communications Expo is currently in its second day and includes a continuation of its impressive lineup of topics featuring experienced members of the cloud community. Today’s panels will focus more on the next generation of collaboration in cloud computing such as virtualization and cloud-based video communications.
To conclude today’s agenda, Chris Flynn, Professional Services Manager at Aculab (News - Alert), a Gold sponsor of the event, will be giving a presentation on the Changing Face of Telephony Platforms at 3:00p.m. in room B213. Flynn will introduce participants to the elements they need to develop and transition to telephony platforms as they change and how the cloud -- or a combination of cloud and traditional platforms -- could be the next logical step for the success of their companies.
