Intercity Networks Ready to 'Make Noise' at ITEXPO

By Tammy Wolf, TMCnet Web Editor

In today’s pervasively competitive markets, companies strive to distinguish themselves through their experience and reliability and innovation of their products and services. But for Intercity Networks, it has a little something extra special to add to its reputation.

A Chile-based provider, Intercity Networks specializes in providing hosted services to the Latin American region. A Microsoft (News - Alert) partner, the company delivers Microsoft Exchange e-mail, Lync and SQL Server, which helped lead to its 2011 designation as “Hosting Partner of the Year” for Latin America and the Caribbean.

According to Claudio Stifel, Intercity Networks’ executive director, who sat down with TMCnet at this week’s ITEXPO East 2012, Intercity Networks is to Latin America as Intermedia (News - Alert) – one of today’s largest hosted Exchange providers – is to the U.S.

“We offer a suite of services to every company in the [Latin America] region for a very competitive price, making [end-users] able to increase their productivity without increasing the cost. It’s also in perfect Spanish, with local support and understanding of the culture. We believe no one is doing that,” Stifel told TMCnet.

According to Stifel, Intercity Networks’ cloud-based services – which are specifically designed for resellers – solve the IT complexities typically associated with the SMB, the company’s target market. Whether it’s scalability, reliability or migration challenges, Intercity Networks operates on the premise that end-users will receive service “no matter what,” thanks to the company’s 24/7/365 availability.

Its extra specialty, however, is in its immersion and expertise in the Latin American market. Intercity Networks caters to a Spanish-speaking market, meaning its fluency and understanding of the culture is top-notch. The company’s services can be found in South America all the way up to Mexico and even Miami, Fla., where a large portion of the population is bilingual in English and Spanish.

This special focus is what’s garnered the company a Best of Show Award nomination at this week’s ITEXPO (News - Alert) East 2012, where Stifel along with his colleagues hope to “make some noise.”

“We’re looking to meet people, network and see what people are doing. Maybe we will find a surprise.”

When asked how Intercity Networks has seen the hosted e-mail industry change since the company’s founding over 15 years ago, Stifel compared e-mail to what the fax machine used to be in the work environment – a novelty.

“I compare e-mail to fax services, which used to be a novelty. Not everyone has a fax today. But, you need e-mail – some people have two or three accounts. It used to be a novelty, but now people ask for e-mail rather than phone number.”

As for what’s to come for the company in 2012, Stifel says to expect more visibility and attendance at tech shows, just like ITEXPO.

“We are going to pop up. We are going to be making noise,” he said.
