Network Equipment Technologies (News
- Alert) (NET) is at ITEXPO East this week in Miami highlighting its UX1000 solution, which recently became generally available. The product is a survivable branch appliance aimed at small and mid-sized branch offices.
The UX1000 does signaling translation and media interworking between Lync and legacy analog, TDM clients and PSTN endpoints. It can simultaneously connect to legacy TDM PBXs and the PSTN through 2 T1/E1 PRI ports. And up to 24FXS/FXO ports are available for analog phones, faxes, and the PSTN. BRI ports are also supported. The UX1000 also interconnects IP-based endpoints and public VoIP networks to the Lync clients.
Jay Haines, NET (News
- Alert) marketing communications manager, explains that all of the company’s products have been built on the same blocks of code, so it was able to translate and transition the original development from its UX2000 product for headquarters and large branch office applications to this much smaller UX product. That means the UX1000 offers the same levels of manageability, performance and security found in the UX2000.
That’s noteworthy, he adds, given NET has worked with government clients for many years, and so has always had to deliver products that can pass stringent security tests.
When some competing solutions do encryption on IP-to-IP calls, he continues, they adversely impact call performance. “We do wire-speed encryption so there’s no loss in performance,” says Haines.
To ensure ease of management, NET listened a lot to Microsoft (News
- Alert) during the design stage. “You can bring up the SBC and SBA in, like, 20 minutes,” says Haines. “It’s very easy.”
Haines adds that NET is also increasingly partnering with systems integrators. It has long-standing relationships with Hewlett Packard and Microsoft, and recently signed a contract with Dell (News
- Alert) to sell its solutions. NET’s vision going forward is to do more sales through the channel. It already has more than 400 channels partners in 100 countries.
