VoIP for iPod Touch

Apple iPod “Touch” can do what now! As Microsoft (News - Alert) says, VoIP as you are, and that’s exactly what you can do with the new app for iPod "Touch." Users who want to use the device for VoIP can do so using the latest firmware 2.2 release. Firmware 2.2 upgrades the recording capability of Touch devices with the added ability to record from third party microphones connected through its dock port.
According to iPodNN, many of these recording devices have been on the market since the standard iPod 5.5 generation, yet were previously not supported by the first-gen iPod Touch. Error messages that would previously appear when using such devices with the Touch which are now said to have vanished, effectively opening the way for VoIP functionality using the Touch.
Separately, Nimbuzz has released a free application available through the iPhone (News - Alert) App store that lets users call, chat and send and receive instant messages using Skype, Yahoo! Messenger, Facebook, MySpace, AIM, Windows Live Messenger, Google (News - Alert) Talk, ICQ and Jabber. IM buddy calling over Wi-Fi is also available to Yahoo, Google Talk, Skype and Windows Live Messenger.
