ADC Telecommunications Introduces New Range Of Software
Products For IP Telephony
ADC Telecommunications, Inc. announced the launch of a
new range of NewNet SS7-IP gateway products to help operators solve the problems of switch
and trunk congestion brought about by the increased demand for IP-based applications and
services. Also announced is the availability of the market leading performance management
tool Metrica/NPR for large-scale telecom IP networks.
This latest addition to ADC's NewNet product family reflects the fast-growing need
among new and existing carriers and service providers to find cost-effective ways of
increasing the bandwidth of their networks, as the routers that form the backbone of the
Internet network become bottlenecks in handling traffic.
"For over a decade, the NewNet product family has specialized in advanced SS7
technology, with a range of solutions in ISUP and TCAP-based gateways and protocol
converters," said Dr. Keith Bhatia, executive director of marketing and business
development for ADC's Software Systems Division. "ADC's new range of NewNet SS7-IP
gateway products addresses the major problem of network congestion caused by the
proliferation of dial-up modem access. The NewNet SS7-IP Gateway products work with any
remote access server or remote access concentrator device that terminates primary rate
ISDN."
ADC is also expanding its Metrica/NPR product to provide carriers with an
IP-performance monitoring solution that will allow them to measure the usage of
application servers, modem access and router traffic on internal communications network.
With its new Metrica/SLA product, ADC is offering carriers the capability to report on
conformance to service level agreements (SLAs) for any service including IP-based services
given data availability.
"With this new set of solutions, rollout and control of enhanced IP-based services
will be simple and cost-effective. Efficient call routing and traffic management through a
reliable, fault tolerant, distributed SS7-IP gateway will no longer be an issue,"
said Grant Wakelin, president of ADC's Software Systems Division. "Coupled with the
enhanced ability of ADC's Metrica performance management product family to monitor IP
networks and services, our customers can now move a big step closer to a full IP-based
platform solution which is equivalent to today's well-established telephony
networks."
ADC Telecommunications' NewNet product family consists of comprehensive SS7 middleware
platforms commercially deployed in over 40 countries, as well as short messaging,
over-the-air programming and CALEA solutions. More information about ADC's NewNet products
