Dialogic Announces T.37 Standard Compliance For
Store-And-Forward Fax Over IP Networks
Dialogic Corporation's computer-based fax
platforms are T.37 standards compliant, allowing store-and-forward faxing over Internet
Protocol (IP) networks. The entire line of Dialogic CP fax boards supports the T.37
standard and can be used to develop Internet fax applications such as LAN fax servers or
interoperate with Internet-enabled fax machines.
T.37 is the new standard for store-and-forward Internet fax determined by the Internet
Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Dialogic T.37 compliant products have already been implemented in and are supported by
many of the leading Internet fax solutions.
Store-and-forward fax-over-IP (FoIP) works similarly to email. A fax is converted to a
computer file and is then routed or "forwarded" across the Internet and
delivered through the use of existing Internet mail gateways. Most Internet fax traffic
still comes in the form of store-and-forward, however fax service providers will
eventually deploy a combination of store-and-forward (T.37) and real-time (T.38) Internet
fax. T.38 is the new ITU standard for sending faxes real-time over the Internet, making it
possible for fax machines from different vendors to talk to each other. Dialogic supports
T.38 with DM3 IPLink, the company's H.323 standards-based server development platform for
building IP telephony solutions. |
