LimeBike Launches In EU And Hits 1 Million Rides

SAN MATEO, Calif., Dec. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- LimeBike, the largest American smart bike share, launched in Germany and Switzerland this week, making it the first US-based dockless bikeshare service provider to expand internationally.

LimeBikes in Zurich

LimeBike plans to deploy approximately 500 bikes in Frankfurt and Zurich throughout the month of December, and gradually increase the bike fleet in 2018. Each ride will cost 1 CHF / EUR per 30-minute ride.

"LimeBike is founded on a global vision to impact local communities for the good of all long-term," says Caen Contee, one of the founding members of LimeBike who is leading the international expansion. "We believe Frankfurt and Zurich are two early-adopter cities in Europe where we can show LimeBike's unique ability to meet and exceed the standards of both the cities and its residents as well as show lasting cange by reducing traffic congestion, pollution and making transportation fun again."

In addition, from now until end of the year, LimeBike will increase its entire fleet size by 40,000 bikes. To ensure proper maintenance and customer service, LimeBike will also increase the size of its field ops teams and roll out new in-app features to help incentivize good riding behavior relating to biking and parking.

"Built with local teams and the best bike on the market we will use this soft launch to learn how to best serve the market now and prepare for the spring when we'll grow our prescience," said Contee.

In addition, LimeBike also reached its one-millionth ride this past weekend and peak ridership is also at an all-time high, now clocking in at over 10,000 LimeBikers per day in more than 30 US markets.
