Open Communication On The Open Road

CHICAGO, Dec. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- After months of development and testing, Tread, a new automotive-focused social network, has launched its website and mobile app to the public.  The proprietary social platform allows for two-way communication between any vehicles on the road using license plates as the primary identifier.

"This is the first ever social network that allows for messaging through a license plate number," proclaimed Jason Bosnak, Founder of Tread, LLC.  "We're launching with a mobile app and website that are entirely free for users - with intentions to only ever charge advertisers."

The social networking scene within the automotive niche had been virtually nonexistent before Tread's arrival.  Enthusiasts previously relied on Facebook pages and other online forums to discuss automotive-related topics; however, these forums are generally limited to just one make and model per website.  Jeep owners, for instance, thereby have no way of trading thoughts with Volkswagen owners - or the variety of other loyal drivers on the roads.  An auto lover himself, Bosnak picked up on this social gap while also noticing the antiquated and user-unfriendly nature of the popular auto forums.  After toiling for some time over his discovered opportunity, he leveraged his Mchanical Engineering and product development expertise to forever change the way vehicles and vehicle owners communicate.

Tread seeks to create an automotive social network that spans across all makes and models with dual mobile and web connectivity.  Utilizing license plate numbers as the primary communication engine, the platform becomes more centralized on the user and their vehicle and is therefore able to provide vastly more functionality.  Auto enthusiasts can create a username, profiles for each of their vehicles, and share them in their virtual garage.  They also have the ability to message other vehicles through the Tread mobile app or website - sharing pictures, videos, and other info even with vehicles they aren't familiar with.  Tread is effectively replacing Facebook and other forums for drivers who care about their vehicles most - allowing them to brag, vent, or just find out more about the people who drive in their area.

After developing a minimally-viable product, Bosnak and his developers expanded their initially small user reach towards people who are passionate about cars.  The team leveraged weekend auto shows to showcase Tread to these new targets - and quickly accumulated 500 users as a result.  On the mobile front, the network is only available through iOS at the current time; however, their plans include rolling out an Android version in the near  future.

Bosnak added:  "After the recent successful website relaunch and app release, we're excited to see Tread's potential in terms of both user growth and future feature additions."

Tread is currently available for download for any type of user - from the true auto enthusiast to the everyday driver - through the Apple App Store.  More information about the network and its functional capabilities can be found at the Tread website.
