Feel the Blade in "Fruit Ninja" with Immersion
Immersion Corporation (NASDAQ:IMMR), the leading developer and licensor
of touch feedback technology, today announced a new addition to the Games
You Can Feel category emerging in mobile gaming. The Chinese
version of the popular fruit slicing mobile game "Fruit Ninja,"
published by iDreamSky, the largest independent mobile game publisher in
China, now features tactile effects created with TouchSense® Engage,
Immersion's haptic technology. "Fruit Ninja" is the latest game added to
the growing list of popular mobile games that are haptic-enabled.
Created with TouchSense Engage, players feel the custom-designed tactile
elements as they wield their blade to slice the different fruits and
avoid bombs. Each type of fruit has its own unique tactile design. The
blade feels like a whoosh as it moves across the screen. Bombs feel like
an explosion when hit. And toward the end of a level, the tactile
effects intensify at the rate and speed of the blade swipe, culminating
into a multi-hit explosion.
Jeff Lyndon, president and co-founder at iDreamSky stated, "We are
always excited to include new technology that enhances users' experience
in our products. By including tactile effects in 'Fruit Ninja,' we
can see that our players are more engaged and excited about the game. In
a game like 'Fruit Ninja' the tactile effects provide a more immersive
experience. We look forward to continuing to work with Immersion."
"'Fruit Ninja' is a prime example of a great mobile game that is a
natural fit for haptics," said Jason Patton (News - Alert), general manager and vice
president of Content and Media at Immersion. "The smart yet simple
concept, high-quality design and interactive user experience are
fantastic elements to work with for haptics. Immersion's custom-designed
tactile effects add engagement to the game, which will boost user
enjoyment."
TouchSense Engage is a comprehensive solution that makes it possible to
precisely control the actuator in a mobile device to create an unlimited
number of tactile effects. The tactile effects complement audio and
visual components of mobile games and media, creating a more engaging
experience for consumers.
Immersion's TouchSense
Engage enables developers to create haptically-enhanced games that
can be enjoyed on the vast majority of Android (News - Alert) mobile devices on the
market today, with optimal haptic performance when the games are played
back on devices running TouchSense
Core technology.
This version of "Fruit Ninja" is available for download in all major
Android stores in China.
