StubHub and BandPage Announce Partnership to Allow Musicians Opportunity to Sell Merchandise and Special Offers Directly to Their Fans on the Largest Ticket Marketplace for the First Time Ever
StubHub,
the world's largest ticket marketplace and BandPage,
the central profile that over 500,000 musicians use to engage and sell
to hundreds of millions of fans, announced a partnership that will mark
an unprecedented opportunity for musicians to be able to generate
revenue on the ticket marketplace. The partnership will integrate offers
from musicians' BandPage profiles into StubHub, allowing musicians to
sell VIP packages, merchandise and other offers within what is already
one of the biggest catalogue of tickets for live events in the world.
Beginning in early May, the first merchandise and VIP offers by the
likes of Switchfoot, George Clinton and OK Go will launch the pilot
program of the integration, allowing musicians to directly generate
revenue on the world's largest ticket marketplace and reach tens of
millions of their fans with highly relevant offers.
"Fans that are purchasing tickets are usually some of the most loyal and
engaged fans out there," said Bruce Flohr, EVP and Chief Strategy
Officer at Red Light Management and manager for Switchfoot. "Being able
to offer them an upgraded experience like a VIP or merchandise at the
moment they are checking out not only helps increase sales for musicians
through a brand new channel, it helps improve the overall ticket
purchasing and concert-going experience for these valued customers."
BandPage finds that online marketplaces typically have conversion rates
that are as much as five times higher than what most artists see in
their own online stores. This is explained by the reality that fans
usually visit marketplaces with a direct intention to purchase specific
items, such as tickets to a specific show, rather than just casually
browsing. On average, this results in significantly higher conversion
rates for online marketplaces than single destination online stores.
"It is five times more important for artists to have their ofers
displayed on StubHub compared to their own website," said J Sider,
Founder and CEO of BandPage. "BandPage's goal is to generate billions of
dollars of new revenue for musicians, so the next time artists are
adding offers to their website, they should make sure that they add the
offers to their BandPage so that the offers can be distributed to
incredibly impactful places like StubHub."
The partnership will provide opportunities for musicians to reach fans
in the following ways:
-
StubHub will show fans the available items for sale in musicians'
BandPage Stores as they proceed through the checkout flow on StubHub
properties
-
StubHub will also leverage their unique insights into musicians'
biggest fans and reach them directly through email with highly
targeted offers
-
BandPage will empower musicians with the ability to curate their
profiles across StubHub, including StubHub Music, a new mobile concert
discovery app for iOS that scans user's iTunes and Spotify (News - Alert) libraries
to alert them when their favorite artists are performing at local
venues
-
Musicians will be able to control their profile picture, bio and more
on these properties directly from their BandPage Profile
This partnership creates a more comprehensive end-to-end experience for
music fans on StubHub, giving them convenient access to more than just
the ticket for the live events that they want to attend. Many times fans
are not aware of additional elements, such as VIP upgrades to their
tickets, with which they can augment and enhance their concert going
experience.
"StubHub's partnership with BandPage creates the opportunity to give our
users even more access to offers and content from the artists they love,
and more importantly, for artists to gain real value from our platform,"
said Geoff Lester, Head of Partnerships and Business Development for
StubHub. "We think the potential for further artist engagement here is
huge and look forward to the exciting opportunities that will come from
this new relationship."
With StubHub, music fans can buy and sell tickets to tens of thousands
of sports, concert, theater and other live entertainment events.
BandPage has created new ways for musicians to capitalize on the
engagement they create online and is the only way for musicians to
directly control the bios, photos, tour dates and store offers their
fans see on Spotify, Google (News - Alert), YouTube, Shazam, iHeartRadio, VEVO, Rdio,
Soundcloud, Live Nation, Xbox Music, LyricFind, Rhapsody, their website,
Facebook profiles and more. Offers distributed by BandPage have the
opportunity to tap into more than 150 million active music fans each
month.
