DisplayLink Shows Smart Phone as a Workstation With Multi-Display and Corporate Network Connectivity Both Wired and Wireless at Mobile World Congress
DisplayLink,
the leading provider of USB graphics technology, is demonstrating an app
that, combined with DisplayLink enabled docking stations, enables
enterprises to dramatically transform Android (News - Alert) smart phones or tablets
into multi-screen productivity workstations. When connected to a dock
through USB or WiFi and running available office productivity apps, the
full potential of the phone in the enterprise can be unleashed with
corporate LAN connection and full desktop connectivity. The solution is
enabled by DisplayLink's app and requires no hardware or special cables
on the phone itself, truly delivering the best of both worlds,
ultra-mobility and full desktop productivity. It will showcase at MWC
(Mobile World Congress (News - Alert)) in Barcelona March 3rd ~ 5th
2015 at the DisplayLink booth #7B33 in Hall 7.
"DisplayLink pioneered universal USB docking in the PC arena and with
its global PC OEM partners has an installed base of milions of
business, enterprise, and home users. With a simple app DisplayLink is
opening a new class of productivity devices by extending the same
benefits of PC docking to Android smartphones and tablets." Said John
Cummins, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, "We're at the dawn
of a new chapter of office productivity where users have choices that
now include their Android smart phones and tablets functioning as
workstation class PC's. For IT professionals looking to deploy a
universal docking solution, they now have a solution that seamlessly
supports Windows and MAC PCs and soon Android Mobile phones and tablets."
The solution is delivered as an app and requires no added cost or custom
chipsets on the phone itself, it simply connects using standard USB
cables or WiFi (News - Alert) enabling an eco-system of new productivity opportunities
for mobile phone companies, app developers, businesses and enterprises.
DisplayLink's first version of the app will be available on Google (News - Alert) Play
Store mid 2015 and announcements on partnerships and products will be
released later this year.
