Mobile security has always been one of the biggest issues involved in the mobile world. While there are plenty of applications for mobile technology—particularly powering the mobile workforce, which in turn depends on real time communications tools to stay in contact regardless of physical location—that many applications also mean a lot of users, and in turn, a lot of targets for the criminally inclined.
With the arrival of the Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) (MWC) 2015 there will also come an array of new developments in the field, and one of these is a big step for mobile security from Mocana.
Mocana is planning to exhibit a complete array of solutions geared toward protecting the SAP (News - Alert) mobile app line. Mocana Atlas' latest release is set to be shown, as is the SAP Mobile App Protection system and the Mocana Atlas Lighthouse software development kit (SDK).
Each of these tools has something particularly noteworthy to offer those concerned about security at the mobile level. The SAP Mobile App Protection system offers up the ability to separate app security from core development, meaning that apps can be secured in a matter of seconds, and to a degree sufficient to comply with several known compliance standards as well as auditing measures, ranging from HIPAA to Sarbanes-Oxley.
The Mocana Atlas, meanwhile, allows for the use of the SAP Fiori system in mobile which, when coupled with the SAP Mobile Secure and SAP Mobile App Protection systems, allows for not only high-end security, but improved ease of use. The Atlas Lighthouse SDK, meanwhile, brings several application programming interfaces (APIs) under one umbrella to allow custom apps to be “Atlas enabled”, allowing custom solutions to derive similar security benefits.
Only time will tell just what the market makes of these new offerings, but it's likely to be a positive response given how well Mocana (News - Alert) has already done in the field, and how well it's likely to do down the line. Few things succeed quite like success, and knowing what we know about Mocana, another success is likely to follow.
