Enhanced End-to-end VoLTE Monitoring Comes from RADCOM

Tel Aviv based company, RADCOM, has been around for about 13 years. It researches, develops, manufactures and markets network testing, analysis, monitoring and simulation equipment. RADCOM products work with a wide variety of network protocols.

Some of the network protocols include ATM, GSM, GPRS, UMTS, CDMA, CDMA2000, VoIP, TCP/IP, Video, IPTV (News - Alert), MLLPPP and PPP for both LAN and WAN communication. What makes them useful is that these products allow network administrators, network engineers and product developers to monitor, test, troubleshoot and simulate networks both in the lab and in real world situations.

RADCOM's first NFV-based network analytics probe is called MaveriQ. The probe is designed to service assurance and customer experience management challenges. This becomes very important now as the service providers are currently experiencing an explosion of data traffic.

This is just one of the challenges that service providers are facing. When used properly, MaveriQ can also help to solve the challenges that await service providers in the near future. The deployment of new LTE (News - Alert) networks, as well as the upgrade process of their current networks, will be a tricky process. An analytic tool will definitely be a benefit.

On Thursday, RADCOM announced that it has made additions to the above mentioned list. As of this week, monitoring capabilities for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) have been added to MaveriQ. The enhanced VoLTE capabilities allow service providers to monitor the VoLTE service end-to-end across the LTE and IMS domains.

Eyal Harari, who is RADCOM’s vice president of products and marketing, said "VoLTE is a critical technology for mobile operators as it is substantially more challenging than traditional circuit switched voice. We are happy to leverage RADCOM's ability to monitor both LTE and IMS, to introduce these new VoLTE capabilities; allowing service providers to deliver high quality service to their subscribers."

Operators would be able to get a clear window into all quality aspects of high-speed 4G LTE, VoLTE and LTE-Advanced networks by using MaveriQ. This is a product that aid service providers in monitoring the VoLTE service end-to-end across the LTE and IMS domains.

This can be achieved because it provides advanced troubleshooting tools for VoLTE service degradation. Currently, the MaveriQ solution has been deployed in four Tier 1 service provider networks in the Asia Pacific and Africa Collections (APAC) and Latin America (LATAM) regions.

According to RADCOM, it designed MaveriQ so that it would continuously monitor VoLTE calls in multiple network areas. These include eNodeB, EPC, policy and charging as well as in the IMS network itself. This is a product that provides real-time and historical end-to-end call tracing, proactive alarming and KPIs that constantly monitor service Quality of Experience (QoE).

If you happen to be in Barcelona the week of the 24th you can see a demonstration of MaveriQ’s latest and newest feature at the Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) 2014.
