Cache-A Launches Advanced Version of Prime-Cache5 Archive Appliance at IBC 2012

Cache-A Corporation recently announced that it will introduce the next-generation version of its Prime-Cache5 desktop archive appliance at IBC 2012. This latest version of the Prime-Cache5 which has been developed to support office and on-set usage, features a robust chassis, and includes a built-in 2.5-inch HDD RAID 0, which effectively accelerates the speed of disk-based transfers. The newly introduced features within the Prime- Cache5 are a perfect complement to the new v3.1 software upgrade thus increasing both performance and operability of the appliance.




In a release, Phil Ritti, CEO of Cache-A, said that, "Anyone looking for a compact, portable and cost-effective LTO-5 archiving appliance will really appreciate the beefed-up features of the new Prime-Cache5. It is easy-to-use, unbelievably capable, blazing-fast and unobtrusive in the office. It is also ultra-quiet and rugged-enough for deployment in on-set production workflows."

The Prime-Cache5 archive appliance was developed by the company with specific features to ensure that film and video professionals benefit from cost-effective networkable LTO-tape storage systems. The newly introduced Prime-Cache5, which has been designed as a compact and quiet appliance, is a perfect supplement to the office and on-set production environment.

Cache-A's Prime-Cache5 comes with features such as a reinforced metal chassis for on-set environments; a 2.5-inch RAID 0 supporting disk bandwidth capable of enhancing disk throughput over and above previous Prime-Cache5 models; upgraded v3.1 software version with accelerated 64-bit processing, high-speed LTFS (Linear Tape File System) dubbing, in addition to new LTFS tape-spanning options. Furthermore, Prime-Cache5 also includes a wide array of customer-driven operational features which greatly enhance archiving, access and exchange archived content.

Providing easy integration with file-based workflows, Prime Cache5 features a dual GB Ethernet port, two USB 3.0 ports, and four USB 2.0 ports for supporting connectivity. The built-in catalog database of Prime-Cache5 allows the appliance to recall all Cache-A tapes viewed. Prime Cache5 can easily share these tapes with other Cache-A appliances available over a network.
