BridgeWave's FlexPort Wireless Radio Named as Finalist in CTIA E-Tech Awards

BridgeWave Communications, a supplier of gigabit wireless solutions, has announced that its FlexPort 80 GHz gigabit wireless radio has been named a finalist in the CTIA Emerging Technology or “E-Tech” Awards.

CTIA’s (News - Alert) fifth annual E-Tech Awards program recognizes products in 15 categories in the areas of mobile consumer electronics, luxury mobile, applications, enterprise, green solutions and network technology.

The products and services were judged on innovation, functionality, technological importance, implementation and the overall “wow” factor.

BridgeWave’s (News - Alert) FlexPort 80 GHz wireless system was included in the Network Infrastructure — Wide Area Network category.

In a release company officials say BridgeWave’s FlexPort 80 GHz wireless system is the first millimeter wave solution on the market that was purpose built for next generation networks. The solution combines native Time Division Muliplexing or “TDM” plus IP transmissions.

Earlier in March BridgeWave announced the newest version of its FlexPort family of high-capacity 80 GHz radios for mobile backhaul.

Aside from simply providing gigabit capacity, FlexPort now contains carrier-class features needed to support existing operators’ migration from 3G to 4G networks, or for carriers considering greenfield Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access or “WiMAX (News - Alert)” deployments, the company said.

This single, compact, all-outdoor solution also enables advanced QoS, Ethernet OAM, flexible RF channel tuning, Adaptive Rate and Modulation, and software capacity upgrades for true future-proof network connectivity, company officials said.

“BridgeWave has maintained its focus on enabling carriers to build out the most cost-effective, high-capacity 4G networks, so they can continually provide their subscribers the best service possible,” Amir Makleff, chief executive officer at BridgeWave, said.

“For this reason, we are pleased that the carrier-grade functionality of our FlexPort product is being recognized by CTIA’s E-Tech awards, as this draws more attention to carriers’ sincere efforts to roll out high-frequency 4G networks for even better mobile experiences,” Makleff added.

E-Tech Awards winners will be announced at a ceremony hosted by Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA and Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies, on Wednesday, March 24, at the International CTIA WIRELESS exhibition, Las Vegas.
