Toshiba Strata CIX Honored

BY JOHANNE TORRES

Irvine, CA-based Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Digital Solutions Division (TAIS DSD) happily announced today that it received the 2005 Frost & Sullivan Product Innovation Award in the North American enterprise IP telephony systems market. Frost & Sullivan gave Toshiba the award to honor the company for its Strata CIX pure IP business communications system. The event was published in Frost & Sullivan’s North American Enterprise IP Telephony Report for 2005.

Toshiba says it designed the Strata CIX for SMB enterprises or larger corporate users with multiple sites. The system supports for up to 192 ports (up to 672 ports coming soon), it offers new FeatureFlex adaptability capabilities, can be TDM-enabled, and provides a smooth migration path from Toshiba Strata CTX and Strata DK digital business communication systems.

"Frost & Sullivan analysts believe that Toshiba is giving SMB enterprises what they want in a pure IP solution, the ability to develop and modify features on their own to meet the unique needs of each enterprise. This capability is delivered by Toshiba’s FeatureFlex solution, a scripting language-based application that allows enterprises to customize their telephony features, often in just minutes," said Michael E. Durance, vice president and general manager of TAIS DSD.

"Toshiba’s FeatureFlex adaptability tool will revolutionize and enhance the development of killer applications for IP telephony. This unique capability was instrumental in our choice of Toshiba for the Frost & Sullivan 2005 Product Innovation Award," said Analyst SV Purushothaman of Frost & Sullivan. "With FeatureFlex, Toshiba has demonstrated its vision for innovation, building on its legacy of understanding the needs of the market in developing products that address those needs."

In related news, the company also announced that TMC's Communications Solutions magazine online awarded the Toshiba Strata CIX the 2004 Product of the Year Award. "Toshiba has demonstrated to the editors of Communications Solutions that it has gone the extra mile in creating the Strata CIX, a solution that provides an exceptional customer experience as well as the strong ROI for the enterprise," said Rich Tehrani, President and Group Publisher of Communications Solutions about the announcement.

"Communications Solutions editors agree that Toshiba is giving SMB enterprises what they want in a pure IP solution -- all the benefits of IP telephony with none of the drawbacks," said Michael E. Durance, vice president and general manager of TAIS DSD. "Unlike many of our competitors' systems, Toshiba Strata CIX can be customized to meet the needs of individual enterprises, can be TDM-enabled, allows Toshiba customers to migrate from existing Strata systems, and with FeatureFlex, provides virtually every feature to every user whether they are or at their desks."

The Product of the Year Award winners for 2004 will be published in Communications Solutions magazine online.
