Satellite broadband service provider Tachyon Networks Incorporated announced today that it will now offer an expanded VoIP service to its enterprise and government customers. The company says its new service will provide high voice quality by prioritizing voice packets over data during transmission. According to Tachyon, this allows for minimal packet loss and ensures completion of the transmission for enterprise and government customers. Like its data transmission services, Tachyon guarantees the new VoIP offering with service level agreements.
Tachyon's VoIP service is said to be compatible with all major VoIP providers and allows for customized configuration based on the multiple international standards developed to support the communication protocol. The new satellite-based service would enable management of packet loss and the "jitter," typically associated with satellite-based communication.
"Our customers in both the enterprise and government sectors have demanded this service as they seek to minimize the number of providers they must manage," said Peter Carides, the company’s president and CEO. "Our guaranteed VoIP service will be of great value to those customers who require vital voice and data communications options in times of network congestion or failure, or when traditional landline networks are unavailable or unreliable."
Founded in 1997, the company delivers broadband communications network solutions to large enterprises and government agencies. Tachyon's broadband satellite network offers TCP/IP-compatible signal processing and protocol software, encrypted traffic accelerators and quality of service (QoS) technologies, enabling high-speed, reliable transmission and service level agreements (SLAs).
The company says its services enable primary access and business continuity, providing network redundancy and ensuring that events such as natural disasters and landline outages do not hinder data communications or reduce productivity.
