C-COR's Policy Service Manager Qualified by CableLabs PacketCable

C-COR Inc., an interoperable network solution provider, announced today that its Policy Service Manager (PSM) received CableLabs PacketCable Multimedia qualification last month as part of Certification Wave 34.

C-COR's PSM provides network operators with dynamic on demand network capacity management for multimedia applications. PacketCable is a CableLabs-led initiative to develop interoperable interface specifications for delivering advanced, real-time multimedia services over two-way cable plant.

PacketCable networks use Internet protocol (IP) technology to enable a wide range of multimedia services such as IP-based telephony, multimedia conferencing, and interactive gaming, among others. The PacketCable Certification Testing Program assists cable operators by assessing vendor product conformance with PacketCable specifications, interoperability with other PacketCable-compliant products, and compatibility with the DOCSIS access network. C-COR's CableLabs-certified PSM is available for early deployment for select operators, with general market availability scheduled for the latter half of calendar year 2005.

The PSM is an offering of C-COR Solutions, one of the company's three complementary business units. C-COR Solutions develops markets, deploys, and supports an integrated, application-oriented suite of centralized office automation tools for the management of the network, on demand content delivery, subscriber, and the workforce, as well as advertising products that supports digital systems without duplicating the operator's infrastructure.

By coupling PSM with the company's network assurance and subscriber fulfillment products, C-COR says it addresses industry demand for comprehensive solutions backed up by in-depth expertise both in PacketCable Multimedia technology and in the cable network environment.
