In Scenario Y, companies may provide Feature Servers Content Manager or Multimedia Resource Function Controllers in order to provide more control over bandwidth optimization. In Scenario Z, collapsing key elements for delivering unified communications could reduce deployment complexities and problems to support new "thin client" applications. Because SIP is access independent - working with fixed domain (wireline - analog PSTN, ISDN, IP, DSL, ATM and others) and mobile domain (wireless - GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, GPRS and others), it has been adopted by the 3GPP and the Layer 5 Session Management Protocol and the basis for IMS.
