Monitoring SNMP variables on the corporate LAN/WAN is a staple responsibility of the network
administrator. However, collecting historical trends and configuring threshold notifications on this data
is just the beginning. What if someone asks “who was it that created that spike in traffic”? Maybe the
person takes it a bit further and asks “and what were they doing when they caused it”.
