Abstract:

The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) branch is a massive operation with 5 data centers, all connected with 45 Megabit DS3s. Their 450 remote sites each have one Cisco 7613 router interconnecting the T-1 links and four Cisco Catalyst 6509 switches which are paired up with HSRPs. They are redesigning the network to move to MPLS later this year.
