LibWAT – A Common Command Library for GSM Cards Using chan_dahdi

Innovation David Yat Sin Senior Software Engineer Sangoma Technologies In this session, attendees will learn about an opensource solution that unifies AT command operation with all of the GSM 7.07 compliant boards on the market, while allowing unique AT command integration for vendordifferentiated features and functions. Each of the GSM cards currently available to Asteriskbased platform architects requires a unique set of software components for integration and operation. Using LibWAT, GSM board vendors and Asterisk platform developers can quickly and efficiently use the existing chan_dahdi architecture to integrate GSM functions. In addition, the session will provide details on the internal workings of LibWAT and discuss similarities with existing libraries such as LibPRI and LibSS7. LibWAT employs the DAHDI interface to talk to the kernel drivers, providing a common frontend to simplify integration of GSM boards into an Asterisk platform. During this session the attendees will learn: •How LibWAT fits within the existing chan_dahdi architecture. •How LibWAT works internally. •How any vendor can quickly add support for their GSM module of choice with LibWAT.
