UTStarcom to Deploy IPTV Network in Ningxia Region of China By Niladri Sekhar Nath TMCnet Contributing Editor UTStarcom (News - Alert), Inc., provider of IP-based networking solutions and services, announced that it has won a bid from China Telecom to deploy its RollingStream end-to-end IPTV
Under the agreement, UTStarcom will provide a whole set of RollingStream solution as well as the streaming servers and set-top boxes, to the project.
The IPTV network will offer 52 broadcast television channels, 48-hour long time-shifting capabilities, 3,000 hours of video-on-demand (VOD) content apart from various kinds of valued-added services such as karaoke, online game playing and other interactive applications. The IPTV network owns an initial capacity to support 10,000 subscribers.
UTStarcom claims that its RollingStream solution is the most extensively used IPTV platform in China. The solution is operational for commercial networks in over 13 provinces. It has about 270,000 subscribers across the country.
