Tilgin (News - Alert) has announced a first commercial order from three Swedish Urban Networks of an IPTV solution for the Swedish open TV networks environment and open base box environment.

Earlier this year, Tilgin agreed to connect to the open networks of SABO, the Tenants' Association, the Swedish Federation of Property Owners, and the Swedish Urban Network Association. The integration has now received its first commercial order of 1600 units for implementation during the first half of 2008 in the regional networks of Varberg Energi, Skånet and Lanet (Landskrona).

Under the agreement, Tilgin will deliver its advanced IPTV (News - Alert) solution consisting of the IPTV set-top box products Tilgin Mood 300 and Tilgin Mood 400 to the regional networks. According to Tilgin, this order is the Tilgin Mood 400 IPTV solution’s second commercial order. The order includes HDTV, integrated and feature rich Personal Video Recorder (PVR), MPEG-4 AVC support for reduced bandwidth advantages, as well as DVB-Terrestrial support.

Tilgin's CEO Ola Berglund (News - Alert) explained that this order from the regional networks shows the flexibility offered by Tilgin's products now that they support both the Swedish open base box environment and the operators' own environments.

Berglund is confident that this state-of-the-art technology will enable the Swedish networks to offer an unparalleled IPTV viewing and entertainment experience for its service. Tilgin’s software and hardware will now be used within the open TV-network at home independent of the end consumer's choice of operator.

“We look forward to together with the Swedish Urban Network Association be able to further build on this cooperation and be able to welcome more regional networks in 2008 to chose Tilgin IPTV solutions under a general agreement,” said Berglund in a statement.

Tilgin designs and delivers premier IP customer premises equipment (CPE) for advanced Triple Play (News - Alert) and IMS-based services.
