MQM calls for removal of IG Sindh, CCPO Karachi


KARACHI, May 19, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Rabita Committee on Friday called for removal of Inspector General of Sindh Police, Sultan Salahuddin Baber Khatak and Capital City Police Officer Karachi, Waseem Ahmed from their respective offices.



The Members MQM Rabita Committee London including Muhammad Anwer, Tariq Jawaid, Saleem Shahzad, Mustafa Azizabadi and Ashfaq were addressing a press conference via telephone from London at Karachi Press Club here.

Addressing the press conference, members of MQM body said that CCPO Karachi had not provided correct information in his briefing to the meeting regarding law and order in metropolis held at CM House, here. The MQM leaders said that their party was striving to establish tranquility in the city but some elements were leveling false allegations against it.


They said that after the violent incidents in the city, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain established peace in the city within 24 hours through his active and sincere efforts.

They also said that action against drug mafia, land mafia and criminal elements is necessary to restore peace in the city.

To a question, they said that MQM hopes that the government will consider its demands and ensure their implementation. Deputy Convener MQM Rabita Committee, Dr. Farooq Sattar and other MQM leaders including Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed and Baber Khan Ghauri joined the press conference at KPC.
