MobiMate, a leading provider of travel services for mobile devices, is offering its WorldMate solution free to Nokia (News - Alert) S60 smartphone users.

The company says this represents a first of its kind "Freemium" travel service for S60 devices and provides added value for consumers and frequent fliers alike.

Travelers can access the superior mobile travel tool at no charge from anywhere in the world.

WorldMate’s (News - Alert) product line caters to the business traveler’s needs – on the road as well as in the office. With WorldMate’s solution, a handheld device becomes travel assistant and saves time, money and stress for the user.

The free S60 version of WorldMate provides services ranging from world clocks through weather forecasts to currency conversion. It offers specific premium services including comprehensive flight schedules and real-time flight status.

"WorldMate's proliferation and the richness of our application enable us to take this important step, making our mobile service closer to Internet offerings," said MobiMate CEO Nadav Gur in a press release. "Consumers expect basic content services to be free, and we agree. Beginning with this product we will only charge for our premium services, that provide significant value to frequent business travelers."

The WorldMate free version can be downloaded from www.mobimate.com while on land or over-the-air at mobile.mobimate.com. Premium subscription can be purchased over phone using MobiMate's secure shopping cart.

Earlier this year MobiMate launched WorldMate i10, comprised of a downloadable mobile client and server.
