Alltel (News - Alert) Wireless, known as America’s largest network, is planning to make customers’ wireless experience easier and more productive with the announcement that they plan to ensure the BlackBerry (News - Alert) Pearl 8130 smartphone from Research In Motion (RIM) is available in time for the holidays.

The sleek smartphone is designed to provide customers with an exceptional mobile experience with powerful communications and multimedia capabilities. From answering e-mail, to sending text messages, scheduling meetings, playing music or surfing the Internet, the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 is designed to provide customers with the ability to do all the things they need and want to do.

“The BlackBerry Pearl 8130 will be a great addition to our smartphone line up, allowing our customers to stay connected, productive and entertained while on the go,” said Brian Ullem, director of device strategy for Alltel Wireless, in a Wednesday statement.

“This new BlackBerry Pearl 8130 blends multimedia functionality with the BlackBerry email platform to create a smartphone that exceeds expectations.”

This new smartphone will be positioned as offering the full smartphone experience, including phone, e-mail, Web browser, text (SMS) messaging, instant messaging and organizer applications.

The 8130 will also offer GPS technology and access to mapping applications; 2 MP camera; advanced media player; an externally accessible SDHC expandable memory card slot; speaker independent voice recognition; enhanced SureType keyboard; and multi-directional trackball.

All customers purchasing the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 and have a qualifying calling plan will also receive “My Circle,” Alltel’s exclusive calling feature that allows customers to choose who they can call for free – this includes any 10 numbers on any network.

Alltel Wireless also offers Anytime Plan Changes, giving customers the flexibility to change their rate plan any time, without extending their contract. To find out more about BlackBerry Pearl 8130 from Alltel please visit www.alltel.com/pearl.

The BlackBerry has enjoyed immense popularity and widespread adoption since its inception. While later releases and models offer enhanced capabilities, RIM also focused on releases models that appeal consumers who desire certain features of the BlackBerry, but have no desire to carry a larger device with all the functionality of their computer.

Alltel Wireless can now capitalize on this latest launch and ensuring that the 8130 is ready in time for the holidays will help to drive demand for the latest in the ‘Pearl” series.

Alltel is owner and operator of the nation’s largest wireless network and has more than 12 million customers. For more information about Alltel, please visit www.alltel.com.
