Two major mobile phone operators in India, Airtel and Vodafone (News - Alert), in collaboration with Research In Motion (RIM), have launched the high-end BlackBerry Pearl 8120 mobile phone for its Indian customers.



 
Sanjay Gupta, chief marketing officer of mobile services at Bharti Airtel, told the press, “We are delighted to introduce the BlackBerry (News - Alert) Pearl 8120 to the Indian consumer. The Pearl 8120 excels in both functionality and design and it will help Airtel users make the most of their time in both personal and professional settings.”
 
Harit Nagpal, director of marketing and new business at Vodafone Essar, pointed out that the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is designed to provide the style and functionality desired by new age professionals on the move.
 
Along with voice and data features, the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 model offers visual interface, hardware refinements and 3.5-millimetre stereo headset jack and Wi-Fi connectivity support.
 
The 8120 is equipped with 2-megapixel camera with support for video capture, and also features a new Page View with magnifying glass, a trackball navigation system and SureType keyboard system, and background noise cancellation technology, and it can be used with BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
 
In addition, the smartphone provides speaker independent voice recognition for voice activated dialing, speakerphone and Bluetooth, and polyphonic, mp3 and MIDI ringtones support. The smartphone also allows instant messaging with BlackBerry Messenger, Google (News - Alert) Talk and Yahoo! Messenger.
