Customer using Bell Canada’s wireless service will be excited to hear that the BlackBerry (News - Alert) Pearl 8130 smartphone from Research In Motion (RIM) is now available for use on the network.

This sleek new BlackBerry, available in amethyst, offers support for Windows Live Messenger. It also offers Facebook (News - Alert) for BlackBerry smartphones, a new software application which enhances the capabilities of Facebook for mobile users beyond a mobile browsing experience, with picture uploading and automatic message delivery.

It also offers SureType keyboard technology, now featuring word completion and spell check. With this cool new “thumb-saving” software client, all the user has to do is start typing a word and, after the first two or three letters are entered, the software intuitively completes the word (offering word options) and thus automatically provides the correct spelling.

Other cool features include built-in GPS and mapping software, making it easy for clients to find their way with turn-by-turn navigation; fast access to ring tones and screen savers offered by Bell; two megapixel camera with flash, zoom and video capture; enhanced media player, perfect for listening to music and watching videos; and an external accessible microSD/SDHC memory card slot, providing plenty of storage space for music, videos and pictures.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8130 also sports Bluetooth stereo audio support and a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, compatible with standard MP3 player head phones; Roxio Photosuite LE, included as part of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software; and an ultra-thin high-capacity removable battery.

"The BlackBerry Pearl 8130 delivers the ultimate wireless email and data experience for clients looking for both substance and style," said Adel Bazerghi, vice president, products, for Bell Mobility, in a press release. "We are confident its combination of data speed, functionality and style will resonate particularly with consumers and small business professionals looking for a phone that lets them work, play and connect with ease."

Bell is also introducing new rate plans for RIM BlackBerry smartphones for consumers and businesses alike. For an additional $20 per month, users can get an extra 2 MB of data use for email and BlackBerry Internet. BlackBerry Internet offers real-time access to popular web-based email services, such as Sympatico, Yahoo! and Gmail, as well as messaging and Web browsing. For another $15 per month on top of that, users can get yet 4 MB of data use for even more emailing, mobile browsing, and text and picture messaging.
