Quickoffice Inc., and SoonR, delivering remote access to computer files, applications and content across converged networks, have entered into a partnership to co-develop a client server solution which facilitates remote access and the ability to view, edit and share desktop content directly from a user's mobile device.

The service named 'Quickaccess' will provide busy on-the-go professionals with the ability to access and share their entire content library stored on their laptop and desktop computers, including Office documents, slide show presentations and images, directly from their mobile phone. The Quickaccess service will be available to Symbian (News - Alert) S60 users in early 2008.

"We're proud to announce this partnership with Quickoffice. With the company's strong OEM relationships and vast distribution, we will be able to offer the Quickaccess service to literally tens of millions of users across the world," said Patrick McVeigh, CEO of SoonR. "Quickoffice has years of mobile client UI experience and continues to provide users with award-winning software and services."

Quickaccess gets rid of the need to sync files to the phone and makes it possible to access files even when the computer is turned off. In addition, users can 'push' content from their phone to their PC with a seamless content management system. The service infrastructure will make the most of SoonR's Anytime Access and secure storage capabilities, while Quickoffice will leverage its SVG-T technology and proven mobile client expertise.

"We are very excited to work with SoonR, with its carrier-grade infrastructure and easy-to-use service, to continue to provide users with the best interface for the next generation of mobile office," said Alan Masarek, CEO of Quickoffice. "This collaboration will provide true anytime, anywhere access to a user's content directly from their mobile device."

The Quickaccess service will be available to Symbian S60 users in early 2008. Users will be able to purchase Quickaccess over-the-air via Quickoffice's on-device e-commerce application. Additional platforms and distribution channels will be added later.
