Fujitsu PC To Provide 2,400 Tablet PCs To
Visiting Nurse Service Of New York
Fujitsu PC Corporation has
signed its largest Tablet PC deal to date with Visiting Nurse Service of
New York (VNSNY). The home health care organization will equip 2,400 of
its mobile caregivers with Fujitsu Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PCs, allowing
them to accurately and efficiently take clinical notes and improve patient
care.
Visiting Nurse Service of New York has relied on Fujitsu tablets for
years. The organization first deployed Fujitsu Stylistic tablets in 1995
to enable the electronic exchange of information between staff. Shortly
after the introduction of the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PC, which
runs the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system, the
organization decided to seize the opportunity and harness this powerful
new technology for itself.
"We selected Fujitsu because it offered the industry's most
sophisticated and reliable pen-based computing solutions," said Rick
Stazesky, director of information services at VNSNY. "We've stayed
with Fujitsu because of its proven commitment to the market and
technology."
"Performance is a key requirement because of the demanding
applications we run on the system to enable the effective electronic
delivery of critical patient-related data," said Stazesky. "The
Fujitsu Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PC provides full-featured desktop PC
functionality in a flexible and mobile solution."
"We are very excited to see the wide scale deployment of the
Tablet PC from the Visiting Nurse Service of New York," said Bill
Mitchell, vice president of the Tablet PC division at Microsoft. "It
is no surprise that the functionality and versatility of the Tablet PC has
been quickly embraced by health care professionals. Caregivers, such as
the Visiting Nurses, are on their feet for the majority of their workday,
and a Tablet PC enables them to quickly and easily access patients'
medical records, pull up prescription history and record vital information
immediately at the point of care, maximizing productivity and improving
personalized care to their patients."
