Telera Suite Lets WISPs Offer Multimodal
Interactivity With Microsoft Outlook/Exchange Over 2G, 2.5G Networks
Telera announced the
launch of Telera SmartMOBILE suite for wireless service providers.
SmartMOBILE, powered by Vialto -- a certified Telera developer partner
-- provides true, immediate multimodal interactivity with Microsoft
Outlook/Exchange over existing 2G and 2.5G networks.
Telera's SmartMOBILE Suite enables carriers to offer enterprises a
managed voice and SMS enabled Outlook and Exchange service. SmartMOBILE
gives users access to critical business applications that reside behind
corporate firewalls, including access to corporate directories and
personal contacts, appointments and email.
SmartMOBILE Suite is comprised of several distinct service offerings,
including SmartCALL and SmartPDA. Using natural language voice commands
and any phone, SmartCALL enables mobile professionals to lookup and dial
from their personal contact list or corporate directories, while
SmartPDA enables users to tap into their personal calendar to retrieve
scheduled appointments or their mail boxes for email. SmartMOBILE also
allows users to send any retrieved information as SMS messages to their
mobile phones, or as SMS or email messages to others in their contact
list.
"Wireless access to Personal Information Managers (PIMs) has
been on service providers' wish lists since the introduction of
WAP," said Daniel Miller, senior vice president at The Kelsey
Group. "Telera's SmartMOBILE could break a multimodal application
logjam by giving businesses a way to provide access to frequently-used
information and applications over wireless networks with no capital
investment or development costs. The 'talk-in/text-back' protocol also
conditions employees to put their handsets to new uses."
SmartMOBILE runs on Telera's carrier-proven Voice Web Application
Platform currently deployed by multiple service providers. Telera's
software enables carriers to rapidly develop and cost-effectively deploy
revenue-enhancing voice applications over existing network
infrastructures. Telera's solution offers a standards-based platform
that supports a variety of business-centric applications on a common,
centrally-managed infrastructure, enabling wireless carriers to realize
incremental revenues immediately while reducing operational costs.
"Telera's robust, proven platform and support of open standards
represent a great leap forward for developers of carrier-grade
multimodal applications," said Ramneek Bhasin, CEO and co-founder,
Vialto. "Open standards support ensures that Telera's platform
provides the lowest cost carrier delivery option. Using the Telera
platform, Vialto can rapidly bring to market multimodal business
productivity applications tailored for wireless service providers."
Vialto's success in developing the SmartMOBILE suite reflects the
flexibility and power of Telera's platform. Coupled with a rich
development environment for speech, IVR and call control interactions,
the Voice Web Application Platform is a compelling choice for carriers
looking to provide enterprises with easy access to advanced wireline and
wireless voice applications.
"Enterprises that can provide their mobile professionals with
anytime, anywhere access to critical business information gain a
significant advantage in productivity," said Prem Uppaluru, CEO and
co-founder, Telera. "The telephone's ubiquity assures that voice
access to mission-critical information will prove an extremely
important, long-term asset to any enterprise. Telera's SmartMOBILE Suite
is a particularly attractive solution for carriers looking for a
profitable revenue generator that seamlessly bridges to next-generation
infrastructures while capitalizing on existing infrastructure
investments."
