Battle For The
Enterprise Questions
1.
What do you see as changing regarding IT's taking control over the
acquisition and management of handhelds in the enterprise?
2. What is
enterprise IT doing with handhelds over and above PIM? What are the major
application areas?
3. Wireless
LANs (802.11x) are increasingly being used with handhelds. Do you agree that
most if not all handhelds will need to have built-in wireless connectivity
in the near future?
4. What
makes the latest version of PocketPC so much better than previous attempts
by Microsoft in the handheld arena?
5. What is
Palm's counter to the latest version of PocketPC?
6. When will
Palm have the conversion to ARM completed? When that is available, how will
the capabilities stack up against PocketPC? Isn't this completed?
7. It
appears to us that all future handhelds should have as default an SD slot
for storage and CF slot for communications. Do you agree/disagree? Have
these become the defacto handheld expansion standards, or will we see other
media types come to the fore?
8. When do
you think wide area wireless packet networks will become pervasive so that
enterprise IT can rely on nationwide coverage?
9.
Enterprises have expressed a lot of concern regarding security since
wireless-based handhelds will be used a lot out of the office to access
corporate data. What are your recommendations re: maintaining security in
handhelds?
10. What are
the most important recommendations you can make to enterprise IT managers
thinking of deploying wireless-based handhelds?
11. What do
you think of the new generation of voice digital assistants (VDAs)? Is VDA
here referring to pda/phone combos, like the Treo?
