Planet PDA 2001: News

Zeosoft Chief Technology Officer To Speak At Planet PDA

Zeosoft, a businessware company bringing networked mobile servers to business, announced that Michael Huestis, chief technology officer and senior vice president of marketing and sales, will deliver a presentation at the Planet PDA Expo, on December 5, 2001. The Planet PDA Expo, held at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada from December 4 through December 6, 2001, is a global summit on handheld productivity solutions. The Zeosoft presentation focuses on effective middleware implementation and completing end-to-end mobile solutions to connect clients to their network. In addition to Huestis’ presentation, Zeosoft will be exhibiting at booth 313.

Mr. Huestis’ presentation has been crafted around a session titled, “Effective Middleware Implementation: Connecting the Client to the Network.” Huestis will discuss a historical view of network technology and how market trajectory will benefit the wireless market. He also will talk about the prospects for ad hoc networks using lightweight application servers on handheld devices and how this emerging technology will impact organizations looking to maximize intrabusiness efficiency.

“The market is shifting from an emerging wireless technology phase to one characterized by intrabusiness efficiency,” said Huestis. Intrabusiness is a term coined by Huestis to illustrate the dramatic shift in thinking about wireless technology and its application to business issues. Intrabusiness is defined as focusing on business processes and procedures that add value to the enterprise and its customers.

Intrabusiness efficiency will enable collaborative processes and secure information exchange on handheld wireless computing devices. Businesses across vertical industries will benefit by integrating their networks with these handheld devices, which creates an ad hoc server infrastructure capable of true end-to-end computing.

Applying new infrastructure technology that drives efficiencies into organizational processes has lagged over the past few years as organizations improved externally reaching Web-based systems. While many of the Web technologies created efficiencies in call centers and finance units, the majority of functional units largely have been ignored.

“The enterprise market should soon shift focus to the use of the wireless technology to create operational efficiencies across all departments, especially in healthcare, military and retail environments,” added Huestis. “As the wireless infrastructure improves over the next two to three quarters, new markets and investment capital will present itself, and Zeosoft intends to be at the forefront.”
