Entrust Datacard Announces Settlement of Patent Litigation

Entrust Datacard, a leading provider of trusted identity and secure transaction technology solutions, announced today that it has reached a settlement with Strikeforce Technologies (News - Alert), Inc. resolving patent infringement litigation against Entrust Inc., Entrust Datacard Corporation and Cygnacom concerning out-of-band authentication technology patents.

The claims alleged Entrust (News - Alert) Datacard's IdentityGuard, IdentityGuard Mobile, IdentityGuard Virtual Appliance and Authentication Cloud Service (IntelliTrust) infringe upon U.S. Patents 8,484,698 and 8,713,701.

Under the terms of the settlement, Entrust Inc., Entrust Datacard Corporation and Cygnacom did not pay any money to settle the litigation and trikeforce did not license any patents to these entities.

"Entrust Datacard takes assertions of IP infringement seriously and vigorously defends against claims that are viewed to lack merit. We are not in the business of paying nuisance settlements to entities looking for a quick payout," said Brian L. Jarrells, Senior Intellectual Property Attorney at Entrust Datacard Corporation.

The lawsuit was filed in the Eastern District of Virginia on March 17, 2017 and was dismissed in November of 2017.
