INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) BUDGETS WILL INCREASE BY MORE THAN 25% IN 2017 ACCORDING TO NEW TECH GUIDE FROM MONDO NEW YORK CITY -Dec. 7 2016 - IT budgets will increase by more than 25% in 2017 according to a majority of the C-level executives surveyed by Mondo, a leading high-end technology and digital marketing resourcing firm, in their latest Tech Trends and Talent guide. Based on the exclusive survey data, the guide reveals the top priorities for IT spending in 2017 are cybersecurity, software development, and emerging technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). It also covers the upcoming IT and Tech hiring trends for 2017.

Cybersecurity is the top priority for technology executives, with 73 percent of respondents planning to invest in cybersecurity in 2017. Around 30 percent of the technology executives surveyed indicated that their networks need more security. To solve the cybersecurity challenge, 60 percent believe investing in in-house cybersecurity talent is more secure than outsourcing, according to the national Mondo survey.

"The demand for cybersecurity professionals in 2017 will continue to surge, and we are seeing that the most valuable security skills are for intrusion detection, secure software development, and attack mitigation," said Gianna Scorsone, Vice President of Marketing and Sales Operations for Mondo. "The massive cybersecurity talent gap poses a significant problem to hiring for these needs and skills. While companies prefer to hire in-house, they often can't find the qualified talent they need and may turn to outsourcing in 2017." To meet software development needs in 2017, companies are evaluating the "build" vs. "buy" approach. Forty-eight percent of respondents reported plans to invest more in in-house development of enterprise software in 2017, while 52 percent reported plans to invest more in purchasing enterprise software. The guide delves into the differences between respondents in this debate. It also notes that the top software developer position that organizations plan to hire in 2017 is the back-end developer, which is crucial to software, website and database development.

According to respondents, artificial intelligence (AI) is finally here and 32 percent of C-level executives surveyed have begun incorporating it to replace human functions. Efficiency (38%), task ability (23%), and reducing human errors (24%) are cited as the top reasons that organizations plan to use artificial intelligence.

"With more than 20 years of experience and more than 70,000 Digital Marketing and IT placements across various industries, we understand the latest technology trends and hiring needs," added Scorsone. "Along with cybersecurity and software development skills, augmented reality skills will be in top demand in 2017. Augmented reality will transform how companies do business and disrupt the way consumers interact with their physical environments." The Mondo survey is based on responses from more than 7,000 business professionals - 52 percent C-level and 48 percent manager-level.
