Chinese Vendors Push Up Enterprise-class Plus Outdoor Wireless LAN Market in 3Q16, According to Dell'Oro Group

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Dec. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a recently published report from Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, Chinese vendors pushed up the Enterprise-class plus Outdoor Wireless LAN (WLAN) market eight percent year-over-year in 3Q16, as the Asia-Pacific region bolstered market growth. Equipment manufacturers H3C and Huawei are taking share from Western vendors in the region.

China-based equipment manufacturers represented nearly 10 percent of total Enterprise-class plus Outdoor WLAN revenues in 3Q16, up from approximately two percent in 3Q14.

"Chinese vendors are now becoming significant in the Enterprise-class plus Outdoor WLAN landscape," said Chris DePuy, Vice President at Dell'Oro Group. "Vendors such as H3C, the number one vendor in China in 3Q16 and now a China-based vendor after being spun out of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, and Huawei, the number two vendor in China, are both taking share from Western vendors in the sia-Pacific region. Over the past couple of years, it is clear that Chinese WLAN vendors are favored by Chinese enterprises and service providers. Several WiFi spending initiatives are underway in China that involve Service Providers and school that looks similar to the U.S. E-Rate program," added DePuy.

A Chinese vendor joined the ranks of the top five worldwide Enterprise-class plus Outdoor equipment manufacturers for the first time. In revenue share order, the top vendors were Cisco Systems (46 percent), HPE Aruba (16 percent), Brocade Ruckus (7 percent), Huawei (5 percent), and Ubiquiti Networks (4 percent).
