Champion ONE Launches New Copper SFP+ Transceiver

Champion ONE (News - Alert), a leading supplier of open standards based compatible transceivers, today announced the general availability of its new 10G Copper SFP+ hot-pluggable transceivers. This transceiver joins Champion ONE's successful Passport™ portfolio of universally compatible transceivers.

This new transceiver supports 100/1000Base-T Ethernet with Category 5e cables and 10GBase-T Ethernet with Category 6a/7 cables. It covers distances up to 30 meters.

The copper SFP+ bridges the gap in the market between 7m direct-attach cables (DACs) and short-haul 10GBASE-SR SFP+ optics. They are ideally suited for data center applications, where 10G copper spans exceeding 10m are becoming more prevalent. This is particularly evident in TOR-to-Core (leaf-to-spine) links.

"As Champion ONE's data center customers migrate from 3-tier to 2-tier network architecures to accommodate increasing bandwidth demands, they require longer reaches in connectivity," said John Jutila, CEO of Champion ONE. "Products like our new 10G Copper SFP+ transceivers enable customers to slash new capital expenditures through the use of open standards, while also protecting their existing infrastructure investments by ensuring full compatibility."

Champion ONE's new copper SFP+ transceivers are MSA (Multi-Source (News - Alert) Agreement) compliant. These transceivers serve as a direct replacement for hot pluggable OEM transceivers and carry an industry leading 5-year warranty.
